About this deal

Obwohl ich Ally genauso sympathisch fand wie Maia, hätte ich doch ein bisschen meine Probleme um mit Anna warm zu werden. So Alcyone (Ali), the "Sister of the Wind", from childhood had a penchant for music lessons and excellent musical abilities, but no less loved to sail. It was only when I set to work on Ally’s story that I actually realized the challenge I’d set myself in writing such a vast, complex series.

kol pats neišgyveni netekties ir stipraus sielvarto, neįmanoma nuoširdžiai atjausti kitų, atsidūrusių tokioje pat padėtyje. I went twice to Bergen, and visited the Grieg Museum at Troldhaugen – Grieg’s former home – and was actually allowed to sit at Grieg’s grand piano! The Storm Sister is a novel that is hard to put away and I really loved to follow Ally and Anna's adventures.

Parts of the book drag on forever (the scenes after Pa Salt's Death could have focused on the aspects and conversations that were unique to Ally instead of retelling absolutely everything we already knew from the first book), while parts I found more interesting (Felix' parents' story, Anna and Grieg) felt rushed even though they were vital parts of the family history.

I was only five when my father arrived back from his travels in Norway, bringing with him a long-playing record of Grieg’s Peer Gynt suite. The Storm Sister is based on real historic figures, such as Edvard Grieg and Henrik Ibsen, although my portrayal of these characters’ personalities in the books is purely down to my imagination, rather than actual fact. I also met Henning Malsnes at the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, who explained the way an orchestra is managed on a day-to-day level, as well as the orchestra’s wartime history. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. This soul-touching and engrossing book narrates the story of the second eldest sister, Ally after Maia, who embarks upon a journey to find her original roots after her adoptive father's sudden death. She loves the sea and makes her mark as a sailor, but she also falls deeply in love with Theo Falys-Kings – which is an anagram of Alcyone’s Greek mythological lover, the King of Thessaly. When I saw that he was nice to his mom, I thought, maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt.

An amazing example of dialogue during an emotional moment: “I wrapped my hands around his neck and planted a kiss on the top of his head, ‘Thank you so much for saying that. And the plot is written in a back and forth, past/present, style that captivates and engages you as it sweeps you along through the highs and lows of both Ally and Anna’s life. El escenario en el que se desarrolla, hermoso y ni que decir de la música en la que se basa gran parte de la trama, simplemente ¡espectacular! Ally is an incredibly determined woman, and despite the amount of grief she endures, she manages to find a new source of creativity, a new home and a new family in which she can raise her and Theo’s child.Of course, nobody knows the truth except me (and my husband if he can ever remember it), and it hasn’t been a challenge at all to keep it a secret – it’s been great fun.

Only my husband knows the plot of the last book, though recently he said he’s forgotten it already .

Rushing back to meet her five sisters at their family home, she discovers that her father - an elusive billionaire affectionately known to his daughters as Pa Salt - has left each of them a tantalizing clue to their true heritage. I found this sequel to be a great read though you have to have your wits about you to keep up with the many characters with similar names and the twists and turns of the story. Ally is a likeable main protagonist - brave and pragmatic, refusing to wallow in self-pity, and always looking on the positive side of each situation. The Storm Sister is like a literary musical score - crashing waves, staccato heartstopping moments and a crescendo waiting in the wings.
