Description

This innovative and refined perfume boasts ingredients of the highest quality. The fragrance features: The results? A resounding success, though rarely spoken about in mainstream publications and without the advertising campaigns that Joop! Homme and Le Male benefited from; The Dreamer forged its own path of word-of-mouth success by offering a timeless tobacco, lavender and floral core with a creamy tonka and herbal, woodsy fir and rootsy vetiver. I have a love hate relationship with this fragrance. Particularly now it is reformulated. The updated version is a shadow of it's former self.

To be honest, I really worried about rose in this fragrance because it can be a difficult note for me, but thankfully the rose/geranium/carnation trio was well blended and it add a rich, lightly perceived, floral vibe to this scent. Just a pleasant light-tobacco fragrance. The Dreamer turns soft, sweeter, and floral with the drydown, but the tobacco notes remain prominent. As for the middle, rose, geranium and carnation notes usher in a refreshingly fresh heart. That fits yes perfectly to my drummer friend, who has already in January Gebby - hardly that Christmas has passed. Launched in 1996 (original edition), The Dreamer by Versace was created by Jean-Pierre Bethouart. It was also the last of Gianni Versace’s signature scents. Up from the bottom notes comes the note that most connects me to Rome and that is the fir note which is so reminiscent of the beautiful umbrella pines in the city. Redolent with green resin and wonderfully bright and sharp this note dominates the fragrance from the late middle though the dry down. There is a touch of Tonka bean which is ever so light like the cream on the top of a morning cappuccino. Vetiver and Cedar round down the notes and it all seems like a lazy summers dream under the afternoon sky in Rome.I think it’s a great value for money. I think if you like “edgy” florals. I think you should get it. I think for every fragrance you want, you should get a sample size and or a travel size spray to test. But i got this as a blind buy and it ended being my signature. And add to the fact is people don’t really know about this. So you will stand out. Versatility: 8.0 (above average versatility but you may kill somebody if you use it in the Gym or at a beach party) Considering its composition and differences between today’s version and the 1996 version, notes are changed fully but manipulated in such a way to keep the original scent. Just like with Acqua Di Gio, it has been reformulated many times, but it still works fantastically for some people. These are the ingredients for Versace The Dreamer of today ( 1):

Dreamer is a nice masculine and any guy can wear it. Best in warmer weather because of its freshness. Feminine women love it on a man. But some hate it. This stage will be the ending one. The dream is over but not until the 10-12 hour mark. This one has great performance and strong projection in the first 2 hours. Also, it performs greatly on clothes. They will smell of The Dreamer for weeks! At this point, I don't know if this it's still in production but you can find it easily online and on many stores. It's a miracle! My favoutite fragrance! Real Masterpiece! Mystical emotions, romantic mood. I step instantly into an other dimension by smelling this scent and i'm always entranced by it! Just like his name says: i'll be a dreamer. I feel as if i were a persian prince from the tales ( like in the 1001 arabian nights) who's waiting for his secret lover under favour of the night in an oriental palace garden, under the million stars in the moonlight.... Off the first rip I get a ton of Juniper and this light grassy-ness. This fades for the middle notes which is a beautiful mix of primarily iris and lily. I enjoy iris, and I can tell you that if you enjoy Iris: you will enjoy this. It's this beautiful harmony of lily, iris, and tobacco flower that is super light and uplifting on my skin. Now, from my experience is doesn't seem to work on my friends who have "greasy" skin (subjective but still). It lasts longer on them, but that airiness is replaced by an aromatic that just smells confused rather than anything satisfying. So then it comes down to price whether it's a thumbs up, down or neutral. Well, it's one of the cheapest designer edt's out there... but I still can't give it a thumbs up. Can't give it a neutral either because it smells too dated and simple for that. You're better off paying 10€ more and getting a 100ml of Tommy. That's around 30€/100ml over here. The Dreamer is only 20€/100ml but I don't think it's worth it because it'll have you smelling not even half as great as the Hilfiger will. I sprayed it on a tester strip, waved it under my nose and boom! It all came together. I made my first trip to Rome in 1999, three years after The Dreamer was introduced. And smelling it on paper, not my skin I recognized that this was the smell of Rome in the last year of the 20th Century. Everyone that year must have been wearing Dreamer. It permeated the Via Veneto and the lobby of the Excelsior Hotel. It was in the museums and cafes and on the bus to Pompeii or the train Florence. During my first week in Rome the smell of The Dreamer entered my memories and then somehow got buried. Also if you are looking for something more punchy (not only on opening), more aggressive, the smell that will project feets away and scream your name then also reconsider getting this fragrance. Uniqueness: 9.5 (although there are many fougére / floral fragrances in the market, The Dreamer has its own DNA and no flankers)

When it comes to season, colder temperatures definitely fit the best – fall and spring are perfect seasons for it. You can wear it during summer too, but only during nighttime, as high temperatures during the day will cause the sweetness to be a bit “too much”. I wouldn’t recommend that you wear The Dreamer during winter as it will basically have no effect – very cold temperatures won’t allow it to open and dry down nicely and express all the beautiful chords that it has. Versace Dreamer cologne is a complex and intriguing scent characterized by a rich blend of wild and aromatic plants. While the potent mix of florals and tobacco is unusual, it results in a simple, balanced, and well-built formulation that’s both clean and summery. However, there are also some other factors that you should consider before deciding is The Dreamer right fragrance for you. I admit that at the beginning it smelt a bit sour on my boyfriend for about the first 10 to 15 minutes, but it sweetens up a fair bit over time and becomes less citrusy and pungent. I think it's the sage and mandarin assaulting my nostrils that I wasn't mad on at the beginning. Let it dry down and then judge - imagine a sweet nostalgic tobacco base combined with light, dreamy and fresh green florals.

Indications

Not one of those ghastly concrete gardens with DIY pot plants in antique design pots, and also not a durchdesignten swank garden with Koikarpfenteich and wooden bridge - no, I'm talking about a real garden as you find it with grandparents, where hundreds of colours and smells rain down on a small person, with cherry and apple trees, where cucumbers grow, the brown-yellow leaves of the trees cover the lawn, and old wooden slats rot on the bank of a small village stream. Versace , the creator of the Dreamer cologne, is a well-known distributor of fashionable and luxurious lifestyle products. These comprise jewelry, haute couture, timepieces, and, of course, fragrances. I love the uniqueness of this fragrance. The opening is a little strong for some people but the dry down is beautiful. I really like how the florals and the tobacco and the vetiver mix so smoothly. It’s a perfect balance, the tobacco and i want to say the vetiver adds an edge to the florals which is very nice. I do smell the lavender and the rose especially the rose and i love it. There is the slightest hint if orange but that’s about it. And a light herbal scent in the opening. That's where the negatives of the dreamer end for me though. On my skin the opening is brief. 20 minutes or less later it is long gone and I'm hovering in a smooth, fresh, airy tobacco heart. It's a different feel from other tobacco-centric fragrances I've gravitated towards. It's a little less mysterious and masculine, and a little more lighthearted and playful as the name of the fragrance suggests. This continues into the drydown, which for me really settles about 60 to 90 minutes after I first applied. At this point it becomes less stimulating and more soothing and peaceful.
